From our friends at Coltscap.net, the Indianapolis Colts have restructured the contract of Colts safety Bob Sanders.
The contract is a simple restructuring, coverting $2.17 million of the $5 million roster bonus he is due in 2009 to a signing bonus, then prorating over the remaining four years of his contract at 542,500 per year.
The Colts will save $1,672,500 on the cap in 2009 because of the move.
For more on the restructuring, visit coltscap.net, which says Sanders’ 2009 cap hit is now$ $6,130,832.

Not to get “all political” but I would think any player who can convince management to convert pay or future salaries into bonuses now would be wise to do so. Tax rates are likely to go up in future…
