Super Bowl XLIV: Indy Football Report Editor John Oehser offers five second-quarter thoughts . . .
1. A little surprising that the Colts didn’t throw once after the goal-line stand.
2. A big-time goal-line stand by the Colts at the end of the first half, but it didn’t sap the Saints’ momentum as much as it could have. New Orleans got good field position and got a field goal just beofe halftime.
3. The Saints controlled momentum throughout the second quarter, limiting the Colts to six plays, but got just six points. That might not bode well.
4. The dropped pass by WR Pierre Garcon midway through the second quarter was a huge momentum swing. The Colts had just 15 second-quarter yards.
5. The Colts get the ball at the beginning of the first quarter. The drive could set the tone.
